Hoya Suxa Masthead

February 27, 2009

Eds. Note: Hoya Suxa is receiving some cosmetic surgery in light of its upcoming first birthday.  The notice was put out previously, but in case you didn’t see it, I’m looking for a new notebook banner and hope that some readers will contribute a submission.  Once I receive all submissions, we’ll vote starting March 16th as to which image will adorn this blog for the next 12 months.

Does football and basketball make you vomit?  Eager for yearly national championships?  Not a huge fan of Columbia Blue and Black?

Then this masthead is for you.

Remember: Voting starts on March 16th.  Get your submissions in.

Hoya Suxa Roadshow: St. John’s

February 25, 2009

Hoya Suxa is more than a notebook of satire; it’s a way of life.  In order to spread the word of anti-Georgetown, I traveled to New York City last night to watch Syracuse University — a goodly institution of morals and purity — throttle St. John’s University — an institution of four-year incarceration with summer leave.

The Syracuse-St. John’s rivalry used to be among the best in country.  With players like Chris Mullin, Bill Wennington, Mark Jackson, Ron Artest, et al., St. John’s traditionally put a fivesome on the floor that could compete on a nightly basis with Jim Boeheim’s class of basketballers.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on whether you believe that a poor Red Storm is a positive for other conference members that now have the ability to pillage New York City’s prep contingent), St. John’s now stinks on ice.  Norm Roberts has an unmitigated mess on his hands and things continue to appear as if the state of affairs will continue to sour before they get better.

Regardless, I packed up my camera and trekked to Gotham for the game.  The trip is catalogued below in photos.
